FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Important Notes

  • As there is no safety cover on unguided trips, participants will be responsible for themselves, so please ensure you are able to look after yourself.

  • Children must paddle accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

  • Buoyancy Aids MUST be worn and securely fastened at all times when on the water.

  • Late returns will be charged as a further £5 per 15 minutes, or part of, for each craft.

  • Any damage to the equipment will incur additional charges, £50 for a buoyancy aid or paddle, up to £400 for a broken boat.

Do I pay the total amount or deposit when booking?

  • Full payment is taken when booking, 20% is non-refundable once booked.

What are the trip costs?

  • Please note, all of our pricing is per person.

    • Explorer - Child £30, Adult £35

    • Paddle To The Pub - Child £50, Adult £55

    • Picnic & Paddle - Child £60, Adult £75

    • Kayak & Camp - (from) Child £70, Adult £75

  • Optional add-on’s;

Do I have to be able to swim?

No, our trips are designed for all abilities. If you are a little bit nervous that’s ok, we would suggest including a tour guide on your trip.

  • Although you don’t need to have kayaked you do need a moderate level of fitness. You will have to go under low bridges, some of which you need to lie down for (if high water). You will carry your kayak a short distance over weirs and locks.

On our unguided hire trips, there is no instructor present, participants should be able to paddle at a suitable level so that they can look after themselves. Should a participant not be able to paddle independently they may be asked to hand back the equipment with no refund. Please note we do offer instructor lead sessions if you require instruction.

What is the max weight for the Kayaks/Paddleboards?

This get’s asked quite often, be reassured the kayaks can take up to 300kg, we can mix and match the kayaks if needed to make sure it suits everyone.

  • Paddleboards - 100kg

  • Single sit-in kayaks - 130kg

  • Double sit-in kayaks - 300kg

  • single sit-on-top kayaks - 130kg

  • Double sit-on-tops kayaks - 300kg

  • Triple sit-on-top kayaks - 300kg

What are the trip experience lengths?

  • Explorer - 2 hours

  • Paddle to the pub & picnic & Paddle - 4 hour

  • Kayak & Camp - 1 or 2 Nights

  • Please note: Within each of the experiences, the time includes a 15minute instructor safety briefing.

What type of kayaks do we use?

  • Triple sit on tops, Double sit in, double sit on tops, single sit on tops, and single closed cockpit kayaks, If you would prefer single closed cockpit kayaks please ask prior to your trip as this depends on your experience and instructor availability.

Do I have to have kayaked/Paddleboard before?

Are there any age restrictions?

  • Yes, 5 years old is the minimum age, Under 18’s must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian on the experiences.

What if there is severe weather?

  • If the weather is bad you will be contacted asap the trip will be rescheduled for another date the suits.

Can I book a private trip?

  • Yes, you can either hire the kayaks for the day or have a guided expedition, guided expeditions will be mixed with other groups. For entirely private bookings, please get in touch.

Are there any toilet & changing facilities?

  • We have toilet facilities available on-site at the starting location, we do not have changing facilities, please come ready for your trip.

How do I know if there is availability?

  • We keep our online booking system up to date so If you can book it on our website, it is available. You can check by clicking here

I didn’t receive a confirmation email, what do I do?

  • Please first check your spam folder as sometimes it can sneak into there, if not then please send us an email at letsgetlost@slowlyf.com

  • You should also receive a text message when booking.

Do I need to book food at the pub?

  • Yes, make a booking for food & drink directly with the pub (food and drink not included in experience): We start in the middle of the other two pubs, plus start at the Navigation Inn, so please only book at one of them. We highly recommend The Navigation for the end of your trip.

    > The Moorings (10minutes or 1hour 40minutes from start time)

  • Please note if you make a booking with the pub, please be respectful by canceling if you intend not to show up.

What clothing should I wear and what should I bring?

  • Please bring with you spare clothing (top, trousers, shoes, towel), as you are kayaking and you will get wet. Dry bag, swimwear tops/bottoms, towel, clothing you do not mind getting wet, especially shoes. There are no changing facilities so please come ready.

What Will Happen On The Day of my trip?

  • After meeting, filling in paperwork, familiarisation with the boats and gear, going through safety instructions you will head on to the water. You will be given a buoyancy aid & paddle.

What is the paddle Route like?

  • On the paddle, you'll paddle through plenty of countrysides and will find a couple of lovely riverside pubs to stop off at for some food and drink.
